Eureka Math² Kindergarten, Module 3: Comparison of Length, Weight, Capacity, and Numbers to 10
In this unit, your child learns to ask 'Which is more?' about all kinds of things. Kindergartners compare the lengths of two ribbons, the weights of two books, how much water two cups hold, and then the sizes of two groups or two numbers up to 10. Following the shapes unit, these comparisons sharpen number sense for putting numbers together and taking them apart next.

What is my child learning in Module 3?
- Comparing two groups of up to 10 by matching or counting, and saying which has more, fewer, or the same number. Learn more: Which group has more, fewer, or the same
- Comparing two numerals from 1 to 10 without objects, and naming which number is greater and which is less. Learn more: Comparing numbers from 1 to 10
- Describing what can be measured about an object, such as its length, its weight, or how much it holds. Learn more: Describing how long or heavy things are
- Comparing two things directly, such as two ribbons or two books, and saying which is longer, heavier, or holds more. Learn more: Comparing which is longer, taller, or heavier
Sample questions to try together

Question 1 of 3
You and your friend each have 7 stickers. Who has more?
- You
- You both have the same
- Your friend
How you can help
- Compare two books by holding one in each hand, then by laying them side by side, and ask your child which is heavier and which is longer.
- Pour water from a plastic cup into a plastic bottle at bath time, and ask your child which holds more, then try a different pair of containers.
- Count the forks and the spoons at the table, up to 10 of each, and let your child say which group has fewer and how they know.
Where kids can get stuck
- Using 'short' and 'light' as if they mean the same thing, so a small but heavy can is called light.
- Counting two groups correctly, getting 7 and 9, then naming the wrong group as greater.
- Comparing two ribbons from different starting points, so the one that begins further ahead looks longer.
Practice makes perfect
Bobby's Math Club has practice problems that adapt to your child’s level, each with a detailed explanation and an easy-to-follow video, so your child can build confidence in these skills one step at a time.
