Reveal Math Kindergarten, Unit 1: Math is All Around Us
In this unit, your child starts the year by finding math everywhere: saying the counting numbers in order and sorting everyday objects into groups to count. These first steps help your child see that numbers describe the world around them. Next, they will look closely at the numbers 1 to 5, one at a time.

Sample questions to try together
These are real questions from our practice. Tap the speaker to hear one read aloud, or the light bulb for a hint, and talk about the answer together.
Question 1 of 3
What comes next? 10, 20, 30, 40, __
- 60
- 50
- 41
How you can help
- Count aloud together while brushing teeth or waiting in line, and see how far you can get. Try counting by tens too: 10, 20, 30.
- Sort the shoes by the door into grown-up shoes and kid shoes. Count each group together, and ask which group has more.
- Empty the toy bin and give your child a rule, such as things with wheels. Have them sort the toys, then count the toys in each group.
Where kids can get stuck
- Mixing up fifteen and fifty, because the two number words sound so much alike.
- Changing the sorting rule halfway, putting some toys by color and others by size.
- Thinking a group of big shoes has more, just because it takes up more space.
Practice makes perfect
Bobby's Math Club has practice problems that adapt to your child’s level, each with a detailed explanation and an easy-to-follow video, so your child can build confidence in these skills one step at a time.
