Reveal Math Kindergarten, Unit 2: Numbers 1 to 5
In this unit, your child focuses on the numbers 1 to 5. They count small groups, write the numerals, and learn that the last number counted tells how many. They also learn that 0 means none. After a first unit about math in the world around them, this unit builds the number sense your child needs for 6 to 10.

Sample questions to try together
These are real questions from our practice. Tap the speaker to hear one read aloud, or the light bulb for a hint, and talk about the answer together.
Question 1 of 3
How many apples do you see?
- 9
- 7
- 8
How you can help
- Put 5 crackers in a row and have your child count them, touching each one. Then spread them out and ask whether there are still 5.
- Write the numbers 0 to 5 on pieces of paper. Mix them up and have your child put them in order, then clap once for 1, twice for 2, and so on.
- Ask your child to bring you a certain number of things, like 3 books or 2 pillows, and count them together when they arrive.
Where kids can get stuck
- Thinking 5 crackers spread out are more than the same 5 crackers pushed close together.
- Touching one object but saying two numbers, so the count runs ahead of the objects.
- Bringing more than asked, because they keep counting past the number they need.
Practice makes perfect
Bobby's Math Club has practice problems that adapt to your child’s level, each with a detailed explanation and an easy-to-follow video, so your child can build confidence in these skills one step at a time.
