Reveal Math Kindergarten, Unit 5: Numbers 11 to 20
In this unit, your child learns the numbers 11 to 20 and sees each teen number as ten ones and some more ones, like 17 = 10 + 7. They also keep counting aloud to higher numbers. After comparing numbers to 10, this unit grows into bigger numbers and prepares your child for counting all the way to 100.

Question 1 of 3
What comes next? 10, 20, 30, 40, __
- 60
- 50
- 41
How you can help
- Hold up all 10 of your fingers, and have your child hold up 3 more. Count together and say it: ten and 3 more make 13.
- Count 10 cereal pieces into a cup, then put a few more beside it. Ask your child to name the number and say it as ten and some more.
- Count aloud from 1 to 20 while you walk, and slow down at the teens. Let your child lead the count from 11 to 20.
Where kids can get stuck
- Writing seventeen as 71, because they hear the seven before the teen.
- Saying "eleventeen" or skipping 11 and 12, which do not sound like the other teens.
- Counting out 9 or 11 for the ten, so the teen number comes out wrong.
Practice makes perfect
Bobby's Math Club has practice problems that adapt to your child’s level, each with a detailed explanation and an easy-to-follow video, so your child can build confidence in these skills one step at a time.
