Count within 1000
Counting to 1,000 is a milestone your child can be proud of, and it shows them how big numbers are built. Each time a count rolls over, like 199 to 200, they hear the hundreds change while the tens and ones start again. That pattern is the heart of place value. It helps with reading and comparing big numbers, and with adding within 1,000 later this year.
In this video, your child will learn to count within one thousand.

The lesson stops at each question for your child's answer.
Three problems, each a little harder
Each problem is worked step by step. Your child will solve the last one before Bobby shows how.

Example 1
234, 235, 236, ?

Example 2
298, 299, ?, 301

Your child's turn
997, 998, 999, ?
The two key steps
- 1Each number is one more.
- 2After 299 comes 300!
Mistakes to listen for
- Stalling at a new hundred and saying "one hundred ninety-ten" after 199, instead of two hundred.
- Rolling over the wrong place after a 9, so 609 is followed by 700 instead of 610.
- Dropping the hundreds partway through a count, so 347, 348, 349 is followed by 50 instead of 350.

Questions parents ask
Does my child need an account to watch?
No. You can watch this on any device at any time. If your child would like to practice counting within 1,000, and you'd like parent-friendly reports on your child's progress and growth, you can join Bobby's Math Club for unlimited free practice.
What happens when my child answers a question?
A right answer gets a cheer, and the lesson carries on. If your child isn't sure, they can tap "I don't know yet", and Bobby gives the answer and shows another example. Nothing is scored or stored.
Is this the same lesson that's on YouTube?
Yes. Here, the lesson stops at each question and waits for your child to answer. On YouTube, each question stays on screen for a few seconds, and then the lesson plays on.
Where can I learn more?
