Practice what your child is learning in class

Want to practice the same things your kid is covering in class? Here's how we support that.

It isn't always easy to help with this week's math. The worksheet comes home, it may not look like the way you learned it, and bedtime is in twenty minutes. A few minutes of practice on that one skill can make tomorrow's lesson feel familiar.

Find this week's skill in a few words

  1. Search in everyday words. “Take away”, “coins”, “times tables” and “odd and even” all find their skill, so you don't need the textbook's name for it.
  2. Pick the skill. Skills from your child's own grade come first. If you have more than one child, choose who's practicing.
  3. Hand over the device. Your child gets a short round of questions on just that skill. At the end, they can go again or call it done.

Every question comes with the same kind feedback and second chances as the rest of their practice, and can be read aloud.

Catch up, or look ahead

You can choose a skill from any grade, Pre-K through 5th. Have your second grader review prior learning to build their confidence, or let your curious child try what's coming next in class.

If you know the unit, start there

If the worksheet names a unit or a module, our curriculum unit guides cover many of the math programs schools use. Each unit shows the skills your child is learning, sample questions to try together, and how you can help. For any single skill, our friendly skill guides explain it in plain words, with practice problems and kid-friendly videos.

Alongside school, a tutor, or another program

Bobby's Math Club doesn't replace your child's teacher. It's a few minutes of practice, several times a week, that fits around whatever else your child does. If you're not sure how to help with the math itself, you don't have to be a math person to make a real difference.

Questions parents ask

Can I choose what my child practices?

Yes. Search for any skill from Pre-K through 5th grade, and your child practices just that skill.

What if I don't know what the skill is called?

Use your own words. “Take away”, “coins” and “times tables” all work, and if nothing matches, you'll see the closest skills.

Does practicing one skill count toward my child's levels and badges?

Yes. It counts the same as the rest of their practice.

Can my child practice a skill from a different grade?

Yes. Any skill from Pre-K through 5th grade, whether it's a review or a look ahead.

Does it follow my child's school curriculum?

Our curriculum unit guides cover many of the math programs schools use, and show the skills in each unit, so you can find this week's skill quickly.

Can my child use Bobby's Math Club alongside a tutor or another program?

Yes. A few minutes of practice fits around school, homework, tutoring, or any other program.

Can someone else who helps my child choose a skill too?

Yes. Anyone you invite to your child's account, once they accept, can search for a skill and start practice.
