Count to 20
Saying the numbers in order is your child's very first step in math. To count twelve crackers, add 8 + 5 by counting on, or later count by tens to 100, your child needs to know what comes after each number without stopping to think. A child who stumbles at fourteen or sixteen often loses their place in a count, so steady practice now makes kindergarten counting feel easier.
In this video, your child will learn to count to twenty.

The lesson stops at each question for your child's answer.
Three problems, each a little harder
Each problem is worked step by step. Your child will solve the last one before Bobby shows how.

Example 1
1, 2, 3, ?

Example 2
8, 9, 10, ?

Your child's turn
17, 18, 19, ?
The two key steps
- 1Each number is one more.
- 2After nineteen comes twenty.
Mistakes to listen for
- Skipping a teen number, most often 15 or 13, and going straight from 14 to 16 without noticing.
- Inventing names like "ten-teen" or "eleventy," because the teen words do not follow an obvious pattern yet.
- Starting again at 1 after an interruption, instead of carrying on from where they stopped.

Questions parents ask
Does my child need an account to watch?
No. You can watch this on any device at any time. If your child would like to practice counting to 20 out loud, and you'd like parent-friendly reports on your child's progress and growth, you can join Bobby's Math Club for unlimited free practice.
What happens when my child answers a question?
A right answer gets a cheer, and the lesson carries on. If your child isn't sure, they can tap "I don't know yet", and Bobby gives the answer and shows another example. Nothing is scored or stored.
Is this the same lesson that's on YouTube?
Yes. Here, the lesson stops at each question and waits for your child to answer. On YouTube, each question stays on screen for a few seconds, and then the lesson plays on.
